PWTorch.com did the following recap of the interview: WWE wrestler The Miz talked about "belts" vs. "titles" in WWE, the NXT concept, and other subjects in an interview in Australia during his media tour promoting WrestleMania 26 this week.
The interview opened with the host commenting on the number of "belts" Miz has as the U.S. champion and one-half of the Unified tag champions. Miz shot back that they're not "belts" per Vince McMahon.
"The thing is you said belts. Listen, you can buy a belt. These are titles. All right. (pause) Vince actually tells us to say that," he said. "Let's put it this way, I won those bad buys. I didn't buy them at Target or Kmart. There was no blue-light special on the U.S. Title."
-- Miz was asked how the NXT show will unfold in terms of potential fan interaction and how the contest will actually be structured. Miz, not having an answer because WWE hasn't explained this and WWE seems to be making it up as they go along, turned his response into a rant on Daniel Bryan to play up his heel persona.
"Some of them has been in the minor leagues for years. For instance, mine is Daniel Bryan, who is king of the independent circuit, if you will," Miz said. "He may be great as a technician, but he doesn't look like a star. Did you look at Daniel Bryan and think, 'My God, this guy is the next Rock, the next Austin, or the next Miz?' I don't think so."
"I'm trying to bring across every time I go out there that I'm testing him and exploiting his weaknesses, so that when he does get into WWE, he's ready for everything - all his weaknesses have become strengths."
-- Miz was asked which of the big stars on the WWE roster he wants to wrestle a match against. Fitting the theme lately of everyone associated with NXT wanting to wrestle Shawn Michaels, Miz said he wants to work a singles match with Michaels.
WWE put Miz opposite Michaels in tag matches lately as part of the Unified tag title program. It's a possibility we'll see Miz vs. Michaels on Raw at some point between now and WrestleMania 26 to continue putting Miz in the same sentence as top stars in WWE to continue building him up.
