NXT 9TH MARCH 2010

Match Number One: R Truth and David Otunga versus The Miz and Daniel Bryan
Before the match starts, The Miz has a pep talk for his rookie. He tells Bryan that he is 0 and two and hasn’t proven himself to anyone, especially the pros. Miz points out that he was jumped on Monday so this match is important. He tells Bryan that if he is pinned tonight, that he will make sure that Daniel never achieves his goal of becoming a WWE Superstar and he will have him thrown off NXT.

Bryan and Truth start things off and Bryan offers his hand but Truth dances instead. They lock up and Bryan works on the arm but Truth with a side head lock and shoulder tackle. Truth blocks a hip toss and hits a short arm clothesline for a near fall. Otunga tags in and they hit a double shoulder tackle and Otunga gets a near fall. Otunga works on the arm and then he tags Truth back into the match. Truth with a kick to the arm but Bryan with European uppercuts. Truth with a clothesline and then he clotheslines Bryan over the top rope to the floor. Miz misses and he goes to the floor. Otunga sends Truth over the top rope for a plancha and we go to commercial.

We are back and Bryan has Truth in a Dragon sleeper. We see footage from the commercial break when Miz berated Bryan and then Miz kicked the ropes and Truth hit the mat hard. Back to live action and Bryan with a rear chin lock. Truth with elbows and a punch but Bryan with a knee to the midsection. Miz yells at Bryan and tags in. Miz with a front face lock. Miz turns it into a cravate and then he keeps Truth from making the tag. Truth with a sunset flip for a near fall and then Miz hits a clothesline and he punches Truth. Miz chokes Truth in the ropes but then he misses a splash in the ropes and Truth tries to make the tag. Miz keeps Truth from making the tag and then Truth kicks Miz away and Otunga tags in and hits clothesline and a back elbow. Otunga with an Irish whip but he runs into a boot. Otunga with a power slam and Bryan makes the save. Miz hot shots Otunga and Bryan makes the tag and hits a missile drop kick and then he kicks Otunga in the chest. Otunga tries for a spinebuster or something else but Bryan with a heel hook and Otunga tries to escape the hold but Miz makes the tag. Miz yells at Bryan and slaps him. Bryan and Miz push each other and Truth interferes and hits Miz with a leg lariat and Otunga with a spinebuster for the three count.
Winners: David Otunga and R Truth

Bryan leaves the ring without his mentor. Miz yells at Bryan and tells him that he makes him a star. Miz continues to yell at Bryan and Bryan wants a piece of Miz.

Miz and Truth lock up first. As soon as they do, Morrison runs in and kicks Show off the apron. Truth and Morrison double team Miz and kick him into the fan barrier. The ref calls for the bell. WRESTLEMANIA 26 PREVIEW - UNIFIED TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

    Dominant vs Dynamic
In a match that will pit the immovable and the "Awesome" against the fast and the furious, John Morrison & R-Truth will challenge Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show & The Miz at Wrestlemania.

Shortly after United States Champion The Miz joined forces with The World’s Largest Athlete, the impressive duo overcame D-Generation X to capture the illustrious Tag Team Titles. Retaining the championships in hard-fought defenses against both Michaels & Triple H and Mark Henry & MVP on Money Night Raw, the dominant mixture of power and resourcefulness turned its attention to Friday nights in search of new competition.

Knowing that he could seek tag team contenders on any WWE show he wished, outspoken Unified Tag Team Champ The Miz arrived on SmackDown to mark his territory. SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long’s response would be swift, resulting in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match the following week to see just who would face the “Awesome One” and his enormous partner at WrestleMania.

When the smoke cleared in the brutal tag team showdown one week later, the electric combination of Morrison & Truth stood triumphant; overcoming both Cryme Tyme and The Hart Dynasty to become No. 1 Contenders to Show-Miz’s much sought-after throne. The collective high-octane force of two of WWE’s most explosively dynamic Superstars will serve as a tremendous threat to the reigning champions.

Just one year after the Tag Team Championships were fused together, the fate of the coveted titles will once again be decided on The Grandest Stage of Them All. Find out who will claim unified glory at WrestleMania, March 28, at 7/4 PT, only on pay-per-view.

MARK MCGAW MUSCLES IN ON SUPERSTAR
Kangaroo legend Mark McGaw has always felt comfortable in spandex - which may explain his latest role as head trainer for a WWE superstar.

McGaw - who played Hammer on the hit TV series Gladiators - has spent the week training at his Jones Bay Wharf gym with Mike "The Miz" Mizanin, who is in Sydney to promote Wrestlemania XXVI.

The 1980s Cronulla favourite, who still looks like he could bust heads on the footy field, was also happy to offer the 105kg wrestling superstar a few tips, having just opened "Sparkles" gym as part of his expanding business, the Mark McGaw Institute of Sports Science.

"We opened the gym around Christmas and when we heard The Miz would be in town, I thought it would be great to have him train here," McGaw laughed. "I've got three kids and another three step-kids, so I already knew plenty about him. Every afternoon I get home from work and someone has the wrestling on. They love The Miz. Although I've always been a fan of The Rock."

Mizanin also visited Wests Tigers as part of his promotional duties for the upcoming Wrestlemania extravaganza in Phoenix, Arizona - which screens here live on Main Event on March 29.

"Those Tigers guys, they go hard in the gym, don't they?" the Californian enthused.

    WNA INTERVIEW WITH THE MIZ
WNA caught up with the Miz whilst he was in Australia on a promotional tour. Miz talked about the John Morrison DVD, WrestleMania 26 and the upcoming Australian Tour.

You can listen to the full interview at wrestling.net.au here.

PWTorch.com did the following recap of the interview:
WWE wrestler The Miz talked about "belts" vs. "titles" in WWE, the NXT concept, and other subjects in an interview in Australia during his media tour promoting WrestleMania 26 this week.

The interview opened with the host commenting on the number of "belts" Miz has as the U.S. champion and one-half of the Unified tag champions. Miz shot back that they're not "belts" per Vince McMahon.

"The thing is you said belts. Listen, you can buy a belt. These are titles. All right. (pause) Vince actually tells us to say that," he said. "Let's put it this way, I won those bad buys. I didn't buy them at Target or Kmart. There was no blue-light special on the U.S. Title."

-- Miz was asked how the NXT show will unfold in terms of potential fan interaction and how the contest will actually be structured. Miz, not having an answer because WWE hasn't explained this and WWE seems to be making it up as they go along, turned his response into a rant on Daniel Bryan to play up his heel persona.

"Some of them has been in the minor leagues for years. For instance, mine is Daniel Bryan, who is king of the independent circuit, if you will," Miz said. "He may be great as a technician, but he doesn't look like a star. Did you look at Daniel Bryan and think, 'My God, this guy is the next Rock, the next Austin, or the next Miz?' I don't think so."

"I'm trying to bring across every time I go out there that I'm testing him and exploiting his weaknesses, so that when he does get into WWE, he's ready for everything - all his weaknesses have become strengths."

-- Miz was asked which of the big stars on the WWE roster he wants to wrestle a match against. Fitting the theme lately of everyone associated with NXT wanting to wrestle Shawn Michaels, Miz said he wants to work a singles match with Michaels.

WWE put Miz opposite Michaels in tag matches lately as part of the Unified tag title program. It's a possibility we'll see Miz vs. Michaels on Raw at some point between now and WrestleMania 26 to continue putting Miz in the same sentence as top stars in WWE to continue building him up.

WWE SUPERSTAR THE MIZ A HIT AT WESTS TIGERS

One of the biggest names in the world of wrestling was a special guest at Wests Tigers training today.

WWE Superstar ‘The Miz’ tried to show the players just how ‘awesome’ he is when he entered the ‘House of Pain’ gymnasium at Concord Oval to do some weights with the backs.

The Miz’s visit to Wests Tigers was his first official promotion after arriving in Sydney a few hours beforehand. He is in Australia for three days in the lead-up to the biggest World Wrestling Entertainment® event of the year, WrestleMania® XXVI, live and exclusive on Main Event on Monday, March 29.

The Miz is at the top of the WWE ladder, currently boasting three titles including the United States Champion and the Unified WWE Tag Team Champion.

Following his arrival, ‘The Miz’ tried on his Wests Tigers training shirt before watching a highlights DVD of the team in action from 2009. He was stunned to learn the players did not wear helmets or heavy padding like gridiron players.

“I imagine there are plenty of injuries. How can these guys play for 24 weeks. They are tough,’’ The Miz said, shaking his head in disbelief.

It was then time to head into the ‘House of Pain’ and a meeting with winger Beau Ryan, who took it upon himself to shout out a challenge to ‘The Miz’.

With his three championship belts over his shoulder, ‘The Miz’ walked into the gym and yelled out “where and who is this Beau Ryan”. Ever the comedian, Ryan took of his singlet and headed for ‘The Miz”, trying to keep a straight face. The pair had a light hearted laugh and a jostle for the cameras. ‘The Miz’ then tried his hand at lifting weights with the players.

‘The Miz’ then spoke to the heavy media contingent before posing for photos with the players and signing autographs.

After declaring his devotion to his new rugby league team, Wests Tigers presented ‘The Miz’ with his own jersey. ‘The Miz’ plans to return to Sydney in July/August for the official WWE Smackdown tour where he is again hoping to meet up the team.

“I had an ‘awesome’ experience at Wests Tigers,’’ ‘The Miz’ said. “When I am in Sydney, I would love to watch them play live.”
